Nikkei – ISEAS Forum Part 2: Facilitating Digital Trade in the Region: Focus on FTAs and Supply Chains
NIKKEI – ISEAS Forum: Digitalizing Trade in Southeast Asia and ASEAN
Digital trade in the region has been growing over the past decade and is projected to continue thriving as a key source of economic growth. The digitalization of trade has also brought greater attention to “digital only” trade frameworks and agreements that regional governments are working on. The Nikkei – ISEAS Forum will take a deeper analytical look at the trends and prospects of enabling framework conditions for digital trade, key policy initiatives at national and regional level, as well as key provisions in the major trade agreements that can potentially affect digital trade.
This second webinar will examine digital trade facilitation and take a closer look at regional frameworks of digital trade in ASEAN as well as the impact of digital trade restrictions on firms. It will discuss how the region should address existing gaps in the digital trade provisions in existing trade agreements, and the impact of digital trade disruption on global/regional value chains. The webinar will also offer views from the business community on the utilization of regional FTAs and the role of governments in facilitating businesses’ participation in digital trade.
