In this webinar, Mr Cuong Le, Dr Nguyen Dinh, and Mr Phat Nguyen provided initial insights into Vietnam’s National Power Development Plan 8 (PDP8) and National Energy Master Plan (NEMP) for 2021-2030, with a vision for 2050. They also discussed potential opportunities and challenges for all stakeholders, as well as the plans’ implications for Vietnam’s energy security and energy transition.

 

Conference on “Social Faultlines in Indonesia: Persistence and Change in an Evolving Landscape”

 

This 2-day joint conference by ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute and Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), aims to provide a platform for academic dialogue on multifaceted issues related to demographic diversity in Indonesia today.

In this webinar, Dr Azmil Tayeb, Dr Francis E. Hutchinson, Dr Lee Hwok Aun, and Mr Kevin Zhang shared on-the-ground observations of the campaigning in the six Malaysian states going for their state elections.

 

Webinar on “China’s BRI in Southeast Asia: A Tale of Two Railways”

 

In this webinar, Dr Nick Freeman and Mr Nguyen Xuan Thanh discussed two China-financed railway projects in Southeast Asia, namely the Boten-Vientiane (Laos-China) railway and the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line in Hanoi. They examined how the political-institutional contexts and levels of bilateral trust in the recipient countries influenced the outcomes of these two projects.
