“Lower APEC’s 2016-18 GDP growth compared to the world average,” opines Denis Hew in the bi-yearly Singapore APEC Study Centre seminar

 

All three speakers,  Dr Alan Bollard, Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat; Dr Denis Hew, Director of the APEC Policy Support Unit and Mr Manu Bhaskaran, Partner at Centennial Group,  shared their views about the economic outlook of Asia-Pacific during a bi-yearly Singapore APEC Study Centre seminar which was held in ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute on Tuesday morning, 07 June 2016.

“Vietnam has intensified its military engagements with major powers as a measure to enhance its strategic position and to leverage its broader external relations,” opines Carlyle A. Thayer in an ISEAS Seminar

 

Professor Carlyle A. Thayer, compared and contrasted Vietnam’s military engagements with China and the United States and noted that both Vietnam and China have maintained considerable military connections, through various avenues such as strategic defence dialogues, border cooperation, or joint naval patrol in the Tonkin Gulf, during a seminar which was held in ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute on Monday morning, 06 June 2016.

Malcolm Cook featured on Bloomberg TV Philippines

 

On Thursday, May 26,  ISEAS Senior Fellow Malcolm Cook was interviewed live by Bloomberg TV Philippines. The interview focused on Philippine-China relations under the incoming Duterte elections, the territorial dispute between the two countries in the West Philippine Sea and the upcoming US presidential election. 

The interview was a result of an opinion piece by Dr Cook which was earlier published in the Philippines.
