The 46th Singapore Lecture, “Kazakhstan and role of the Middle Powers: Fostering Security, Stability and Sustainable Development” was delivered by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H E Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on 24 May 2024.
In his address to about 200 participants, President Tokayev explored the vital role of middle powers in promoting global security, stability, and sustainable development. He also discussed the challenges facing the modern world, including geopolitical tensions, climate change, and economic instability, and emphasised the importance of multilateralism, international cooperation and diplomacy in addressing these complex issues.
The Lecture was chaired by Mr Teo Chee Hean, Singapore Senior Minister & Coordinating Minister for National Security, and organised by ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute.
The Singapore Lecture, inaugurated in 1980, combine intellectual and reflective, as well as the political aspects of a discourse delivered by a significant leader of our times. It is regarded as a major intellectual event in Singapore.
